Rhode Island
Rhode Island may be a small state, squeezed between Connecticut and Massachusetts, but it welcomes its visitor to unwind along the Rhode Island
Sound of the Atlantic Ocean and the beaches of the inland lakes and enjoy
favorite water sports. Providence is the largest town in Rhode
Island and is the home of Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence College, and several museums,
including the Museum of
Natural History and Slater Mill Children's Museum. Historians can explore the Native American culture at Narraganesett Indian Reservation, Royal Indian
Burial Ground, and the Museum of Primitive Culture.
All visitors to Rhode Island need to spend a
day in Newport strolling among the interesting shops and sampling the local delicacies at its interesting restaurants as well as visiting the Tennis Hall of Fame and mansions of the "gilded age." Rhode Island has golfing and hunting clubs and invites its visitors to fish on its
inland lakes or hire a charter for deep-sea fishing, wander through orchards, hunt, ski,
and sail. Block Island, which is
accessible by ferry from Newport or Point Judith, Rhode Island, New London, Connecticut, and Montauk, Long
Island, New
York is a magnet for sailors from all over the East Coast. Travelers can get
to Rhode Island by flying to Providence,
driving from Massachusetts or Connecticut
on I-95, or following scenic Route 1 along the coast from Connecticut.
