New Jersey
New Jersey, the Garden State, has six travel destinations that provide history buffs, art and culture lovers, or anyone who enjoys farm-fresh produce exciting day trips and extended vacations. It is a state of great diversity from ocean shores and Appalachian foothills to vast urban regions and quaint rural villages that have something exciting for everyone. Travelers to New Jersey also can find professional sports, jazz festivals, gaming, wine trails, cherry blossoms, beaches, golfing, and skiing. Starting in the Delaware River Region, travelers can follow the pathway of the American Revolution that led through New Jersey. Visitors to the region can start at Crossing State Park where General George Washington crossed the icy Delaware River or Morristown National Historic Park to trace the movement of General Washington and his troops. Tourists can also visit the Walt Whitman House, which shows the development of the American literary character, or learn about the Native American heritage at the Rankokus Indian Reservations. The Delaware River Region is known for its beautiful rolling hills, farms, historic colonial towns, horseback riding, birding, and romantic bed and breakfasts. It is an antique lover's dream tour.
The Gateway Region of New Jersey shares the Hudson River with New York and has the palisades. The drive north from Fort Lee is scenic and provides the day-tripper with a scenic respite. Other historical points of interest in the Gateway Region include Liberty State Park with easy access to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and Edison National Historic Site in West Orange to see Thomas Edison's laboratory. The Gateway Region also is a magnet for professional sports fans, who watch their favorite professional football teams play at the Meadowlands. Because it is close to New York, many tourists prefer to stay in eastern New Jersey and take public transportation to New York City. It has fine lodging, shopping, and restaurants that are as interesting as their counterparts in the City. Traveling to New Jersey is easy with access to national and international flights through the airport at Newark and Am Track goes through New Jersey, connecting it with all states on the East Coast, as well as having many interstate connections.
New Jersey offers summer beach enthusiasts lots of outdoor activities and water sports along the beaches of its Shore Region. Visitors can walk along the sandy shoreline and boardwalks to see the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean or build sandcastles. They can go surf fishing or go boating. When the day is over, there are wonderful restaurants and various entertainments for everyone in the family.
The Atlantic City Region offers world-class casinos, luxurious hotels, and five-star dining for adults. For families, there are lots of interesting amusements along the boardwalk.
Skiers, snowboarders, antique hunters, and outdoor adventurers love the Skyland Region of New Jersey. History buffs can learn more about the Native American heritage at Waterloo's Lenape Indian Village or search for pre-Revolutionary artifacts. In the quiet dawn or sunset, hot air balloons rise above the beautiful landscapes of the Skyland Region.
The South Shore Region borders the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay where quaint towns like Cape May boast Victorian charm where travelers can poke around the antique shops, stroll along the boardwalks, play golf, or enjoy water sports like fishing, boating, and sailing. |
