Bermuda, famous for its "Bermuda shorts" and its British roots, is just a quick trip by plane or cruise ship from the Florida Atlantic coast. Known for its mild climate that rarely fluctuates is a tranquil vacation and business destination. In 2005, Bermuda with its wonderful music and cuisine is celebrating its quincentennial (1505-2005). Although many view Bermuda as a romantic destination for weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries, golfers are drawn to its excellent and challenging courses for golfing vacations. Visitors, including families, find getting around Bermuda very easy as they can walk, zoom around on motor scooters, bicycle, or ride horses. Bermuda has walking clubs and equestrian activities for its vacationers. There also are buses, ferries, and carriages for others who prefer alternative modes of travel on the Island. Bermuda has rich artistic and entertainment cultures to go along with the nightlife and shopping. Additionally, eco-tourists enjoy kayaking and diving in the blue-green waters that surround Bermuda. Boating, big game fishing, beach combing, viewing dolphins, and snorkeling around shipwrecks are popular activities for visitors to Bermuda. Other visitors prefer to re-energize and its spas.
Like many of the islands off the coast of the southern United States and in the Caribbean, Bermuda is often a winter holiday destination.
